Domestic Adoption in Reno

Connecting Nevada-Born Children with Families Across the Nation

At Adoption and Surrogacy Choices of Reno, our staff orchestrates adoptions for individuals and couples throughout the United States. The domestic adoption process can be complex and, at first glance, may seem overwhelming. However, our team can help you smooth out the process as much as possible and ensure you don't get stressed out.

Call our Reno office at (775) 227-5277 to begin your adoption journey!

The adoption process consists of the following:

  1. Home Study: Before the adoption process can begin, you will need to complete a home evaluation with a social worker or agency counselor. This is not a test in which you will pass or fail, but a discussion on the reasons you would like to adopt and the things you can do to properly prepare your home.

  1. Create an Adoption Profile: An adoption profile is an essential part of the process. By making a full and complete profile you are allowing birth mothers to learn more about you and the type of life you can provide to a child.

  1. Finding Potential Matches: At this stage of the process, you will be presented with various Expectant Parent situations and your profile will be presented to Expectant Parents.

  1. Pre-placement: This stage connects you and the birth family with an adoption counselor. You will be provided with updates on the birth mother's pregnancy and general health. If you wish, you can build a relationship with the birth family that could last for the remainder of the child's life.

  1. Birth, Relinquishment & Placement: The Birth Plan will be developed by the Birth Mother with the assistance of her adoption counselor. In most cases, Relinquishment in Nevada can be executed 72 hours after the birth of the baby.

  1. Post-placement Supervision: After placement, Nevada law requires six months of post placement supervisory visits conducted by a licensed social worker.
